Webpage to PDF Converter — Chrome Extension

Last updated: July 27, 2026

Your privacy is the default, not a feature. Webpage to PDF Converter is built to run entirely on your device — no accounts, no servers, no tracking, and nothing about you or your pages is ever uploaded.

The short version

  • No accounts, no servers, no tracking, no analytics, no ads.
  • Reading a page and generating the PDF happen locally in your browser.
  • The finished PDF or image is downloaded to your computer — the extension keeps no library, history, or copies of what you convert.
  • The only settings stored are your own preferences, saved on your device.

What the extension accesses, and when

The content agent is passive: it is present on pages but performs no work and reads nothing until you explicitly start a conversion.

CapabilityWhy it is usedWhen
The active tab's contentTo read and capture the page you are convertingOnly when you start a conversion
Visible-tab capturePixel-perfect visual capture of the pageDuring a whole-page, visible, or selected-area conversion you initiate
Reading the page's DOMLayout measurement and faithful reproduction in the PDFOnly when you convert that tab
downloadsTo save the finished PDF or image to your computerWhen you export
storage (unlimitedStorage)Save your settings, and briefly hold a capture for the editorAs you use the extension

Network activity

The extension makes no calls to any first-party or analytics server — there are none. The only network requests it makes are to fetch the images that already appear on the page you are converting, so they can be embedded into your PDF. Those requests go to the same image hosts your browser already loaded them from. Nothing about you, your browsing, or your documents is transmitted anywhere.

What is stored, and where

Settings (theme, default paper size, margins, quality, filename templates, header/footer options, and similar preferences) are stored in chrome.storage.local, on your device. That is all that persists.

Finished PDFs and images are downloaded to your computer by you; the extension does not keep its own copy, library, or history. A capture is held only in memory while you convert — and, if you choose Edit before export, in temporary local storage until the editor reads it, then discarded. Uninstalling the extension removes its settings.

What is never collected

Personal information, browsing history, keystrokes, form data, credentials, the contents of pages you did not convert, or telemetry of any kind. None of it is collected, and none of it is sold or shared with third parties.

Permissions, briefly

  • activeTab, tabs, scripting, and host access — to read and capture the page you choose to convert, and to inject the on-demand capture agent.
  • downloads — to save your exported file.
  • storage, unlimitedStorage — to store your settings and briefly hold a capture for editing.
  • contextMenus — the right-click "Convert page to PDF" shortcut.
  • offscreen — to render the PDF in a background document without opening a visible tab.

Children's privacy

The extension collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
